Sweet Discovery!

Finding the Designer Diva Resale shop fell into place by happenstance.  A dear friend of ours recently passed on to be reunited with her sweet husband who died many years earlier.  I like to think of them both enjoying a blissful afterlife together.  They gave so much of themselves to others while in this life and are missed by those who loved them.  My husband and I were both blessed to be able to count them among our closest friends.  We offered to help our friend’s sister find a place for Pat’s beautiful clothing which could then be enjoyed by others.

After doing a bit of online research, Designer Diva Resale shop got my attention for several reasons.  It has an A+ from the Better Business Bureau.  Consignments are taken for one year, not the usual three months or so as in other resale shops.  To top it off, they partner with a non-profit charity called Blooming Butterflies!

Blooming Butterflies

Michelle Puckett is the owner of the Designer Diva Resale shop and is also the founder of the non-profit charity known as Blooming Butterflies.  A horrific hit and run accident caused years of suffering and numerous surgeries and therapy for Michelle’s son Charles. Instead of indulging in despair, they turned outward hoping to help others who also sustain difficulties in life.  Blooming Butterflies, Inc. is the result.

Why the name butterflies?  The reason is two-fold.  Number one: Monarch butterflies need milkweeds to survive.  Monarch butterfly eggs are laid on milkweed plants, and the hatched caterpillars feed upon the milkweeds before their metamorphosis into a full-fledged butterfly.  One of the purposes of Blooming Butterflies is to plant milkweeds in the Houston metropolitan area to aid these endangered butterfly beauties.

Number two: The non-profit Blooming Butterflies also aids battered women and other disadvantaged people of all ages to have a fresh start in life.  Whether it is giving them some professional-looking clothing so that they can go out and seek a job or aiding them in some other way,  it can be life-changing similar to the metamorphosis that takes place in the life cycle of Monarch butterflies.  10% of all sales in Designer Diva Resale goes to aid these dual efforts.  As a long-time volunteer counselor at a local assistance ministry, I love this idea!  So do others who donate their time in this resale shop.

Largest Designer Resale Shop in Texas!

“Everything is bigger and better in Texas!”  That old saying surely fits the Designer Diva Resale shop which has a whopping 20,000 square feet of space!  There are as many pairs of shoes here as in most shoe stores.   As to jewelry selections, the same is true.  From hats to belts, bathing suits to jeans, workout clothing to formals, you must stop in and see this store to believe it!  They even have a resident seamstress in the store who can alter or even remake clothing to suit anyone’s taste or size.  Not many stores offer that these days in women’s clothing, particularly in a resale shop!

New Man Cave at Designer Diva!

By far, most of the items in Designer Diva Resale are for women, but a new addition is the “man cave.” There is now a small room in which men’s items are located. The intent is to expand that area eventually.  Men’s suits, casual clothing, boots, and more are there.

I don’t really go anywhere to wear such fancy dresses, but they are beautiful. I like the idea that money goes to9 help women who desperately need that money. This is a great store and I don’t think we have anything like this store where I live. Houston is an interesting place. You do a good job of keep the public informed about all the great things about this city. Have a great week Peggy!

      Hi Pamela,

Like you, I really like the idea that some of the profits go to help people. Some people donate items so that all of the profits of those things go strictly to charity. One day we saw some crystal glasses for sale and found out that they were donated to help the Blooming Butterflies non-profit entity. It is a wonderful place to shop. They have some regular items like blue jeans, etc., so there is something for everyone.

What an amazing array of merchandise. Great concept to add the charity option and keep items for one year. So glad you found this place to aid your friend’s sister.

I am happy to have found it as well! I have already told others about it and am sure that they will get more visits from people who have never previously shopped there.
